Count to Ten: the importance of emotional intelligence on October 26, 2017

Do you ever wonder why some people can handling highly emotional situations with ease while others seem to just explode? This presentation will explore this question by examining the skills needed for high emotional intelligence and share some ideas about how to enhance your emotional intelligence.

Speaker: Donnie Broshar, Human Research Specialist IV

Bio: Don Broshar has worked in human and organization development for over 44 years, 35 of those with ISU Extension and Outreach. He has served as a youth program coordinator, a youth and family counselor, a County Extension Director, an Organizational Development Specialist, a Youth Development Specialist, a Community Development Specialist, and as Director of Extension and Outreach Human Resources. Don is currently retired from Extension and Outreach and has worked part-time for Iowa State University as a Human Resource Consultant in leadership and supervision development for over three years. In addition, he works as a private consultant. He has facilitated groups of many sizes and many purposes ranging from not-for-profit youth and community groups to university work groups and departments, to school systems, to community businesses. He has trained employees, staff, and faculty in topics ranging from communications to stress management to personal leadership and management skills to conflict management to coping with change to youth development.
